Glimpses of Our Speakers Speeches

Ms. Ishi Khosla
  • The purpose of this Conference, the International Symposium on Gut Health and Lifestyle Disorders is precisely to put the spotlight on the right issues when we are managing Health and and ill health which today is really not in a good shape.
  • I would call it a crisis. We have epidemics right from Lifestyle Disorders like Obesity, Diabetes, Hypertension, cancers, etc.
  • All the data, all the statistics are out of control and also nutritional deficiency, micronutrient deficiency diseases which are also on the rise.
  • So the idea is to put the spotlight on the real issues that Where this is? Why this is happening?
  • We all know today that it is all because of a faulty Gut and a faulty Gut Microbiome and to understand Why this microbiome is faulty?
  • What are the factors we can modify to correct things and in our learnings today we have realized that the Grain Changer is indeed the Game Changer so one of the biggest things or biggest disruptors of a Gut Microbiome is the Inflammatory Grains
  • The idea is for people to understand that and to adopt alternative grains like Millets into their diet to improve the Gut Microbiome and thereby prevent diseases and promote good health.
Dr. Shikha Sharma
  • Human Body is not just Flesh and Bones. It's not just about what we see as a physical Liver or a Kidney or an Intestine or a Gut. It is powered by many other layers of what we call as a being.
  • According to Vedic Sculptures, the root of Health was rooted in Consciousness and Intelligence.
  • The Breath powers the Human Body and therefore when the Breath goes wrong or when we do shallow breathing or when we do breathe which is not conducive to a balanced Health that's where Diseases start.
  • The goal of eating for a warrior would be very different from a scholar would be very different from somebody who is more into day-to-day physical hard work which means that it was not just one diet for everyone. having 2,000 calories per day in form of proteins, carbs, etc. Every Human being should follow personalised and unique diet plan.
  • The first stop or the first step which we need to fix is our Gut if we want to fix anything right from cancer to infertility because if the Gut Health is not there it is almost impossible to fix any other part of the body the entry gate to our to our whole system is the Gut.
Dr. Natasha Campbell
  • The microbes in our Digestive System produce hormones and neurotransmitters which produce endorphins and they digest the food that we eat and convert it into millions of various chemicals.
  • Many of these chemicals are good for us and as long as our Gut is healthy and well balanced, these microbes produce good chemicals for us and we feel well and we have energy and we have no illnesses.
  • In our modern world, we live in an environment where our gut Flora gets damaged all the time. They damage the balance in the gut and make imbalances for bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and all sorts of creatures.
  • When they are together, they balance and control each other. They don't allow anyone to cause trouble but when we keep eating antibiotics because we buy our food in the supermarket and eat other chemicals which kill microbes, we break that balance all the time.
  • Due to production of these chemicals, the whole balance of the Brain disturbs and when our brain receives this mixture of abnormal neurotransmitters it reacts so our mood gets abnormal, our behaviour changes and we become depressed or we develop anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorder or memory loss or not sleep well also.
Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi
  • One should check the Gut at an early stage when the symptoms like Constipation, Inflammation, Insomnia occurs because later on it becomes Chronic Diseases like Diabetes, Heart Attacks, Thyroid and so on.
  • Millets are self-cultivated crops and are practised since Indus Valley Civilization. Rice and Wheat are also crops but they need proper cultivation. Millets helps in better digestion of food and are sustainable also as the millets require less water to grow.
  • They help in balancing of Sugar levels and if you eaten four Rotis of millet probably you won't eat till 24 hours
  • The nutritional density of Millets is higher which means it has greater sustainable effort because it consumes less water and is resilient to climate change.
  • The life cycle of millet when the sewing of the seed to complete Harvest and cultivation it's done only in 2 and a half months as compared to wheat which takes four months.
Dr. Shiv Sarin
  • Our Liver is the core of many Chronic Inflammations in other parts of the body. If our BMI is more than 23,we may face the challenges of Heart Attack, Diabetes, and Liver Cancer also.
  • The Fatty Liver stops the way for Insulin and circulates the fats into muscles and nerves through blood and that results in Obesity.
  • Your Daily Routine is highly dependent on your Liver. Eating the food between Sunrise and Sunset helps in better Immunity rather than eating at Night.
  • Not only our Lifestyle but also our Genes plays a major role in Fatty Liver. If someone is Obese in our family, it transmits the Non-Communicable Diseases to the Infant majorly in form of Mothers Breast Milk. So, you can check your Fatty Liver Test at home with this Simple formula:
    Male: Height - 100(170-100=70 KGs)
Female: Height - 105 (Due to Family History)
  • The Tests which can best describe a Fatty Liver stage are Ultrasound which tells the Bowel Movement important in case of PCOD and Obesity and the second one is Fibro scan-a sound wave which hits either a hard surface or a soft surface of the Liver for sound to come back. The normal timing is 60 milliseconds.
Dr. Tom O’Bryan
  • Our Gut holds trillions of Microorganisms which are much more than the stars in the Universe.
  • The size of short chain fatty acids is between 20 to 200 nanomolar which means it goes right through the lining of the gut into the bloodstream. The exhaust of the microbiome has direct access to the bloodstream and when it gets in the blood, it goes in your bloodstream and flows in same direction reaches every organ of the Body and affects the cells.
  • The microbiomes are messengers activating genes throughout our body. They modulate our heart rate, liver function, lung function and brain function.
  • The Leaky Gut make space for food particles not to digest and due to their large size, they get store and make Uric Acid results in Arthritis and Intolerances like Psoriasis.
