Celiac disease is a chronic systemic disease that is based on a lifelong intolerance to gluten . In this serious autoimmune disease, the intestinal villi are destroyed. As a result, food components no longer reach the bloodstream in sufficient quantities.
Fructose is a natural simple sugar that is mainly found in fruit. Fructose is not only ingested through food through fruit, but also through vegetables and, in small amounts, through cereals.
A distinction is made between two forms of intolerance:
In the case of congenital fructose intolerance , fructose cannot be properly metabolized due to a congenital enzyme deficiency.
The second, much more common form is fructose malabsorption . Here the transport system of the small intestine is defective or overloaded. If this transporter does not work, the fructose cannot be taken up (absorbed) from the small intestine or only to a small extent.
As an important messenger, histamine is involved in controlling various functions such as the sleep-wake cycle or gastric juice secretion. Histamine also playsa major role in allergic reactions. The messenger substance is not only produced by the body itself, but also ingested through many foods.
In the case of histamine intolerance , there is a deficiency or reduced activity of the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO). As a result, the body can not adequately break down histamine ingested through food.
